TS 239 consists of 133 leaves, generally measuring 296 x 210 mm, though there is some variation in size where leaves have been cut down or a number of fragments have been stuck together to make a leaf. It has been foliated in type thus: unfoliated leaf, 2, 2a, 3-77, 6 unfoliated leaves, 82-85, unfoliated leaf, 94-101, unfoliated leaf, 102-136, unfoliated fragment. F. 84 has a note discussing its foliation. F. 39 has been torn and the leaves between ff. 77 and 82 consist of five leaf of fragments arranged and pasted onto paper and 1 manuscript remark written using blue ink. The last folio is a fragment.

The text is in German and typed on the rectos of the leaves only. Some leaves contain annotations by Wittgenstein using blue/black ink and pencil.
