MS 136 is a casebound account book measuring 253 x 202. Wittgenstein has included dates between 18 December 1947 and 25 January 1948 in the text. The binding is maroon buckram quarter bound with maroon leather. On the front cover is a label reading ‘Manuscript Volume “Band Q” December 1947 - February 1948. Oxford’ and ‘RED 1-10 IIV’. Internally, there are red marbled endpapers with two flyleaves front and rear, and 142 leaves, each ruled with 28 lines below a red double line and 12 vertical lines splitting the page into columns. The pages are numbered by opening, stamped by the printer 1-145 including the inner front flyleaf and both rear flyleaves. On the outer front flyleaf is a printers stamp reading ‘Supplied by Browne and Nolan Ltd. Printers, Stationers, Publishers. Nassau Street, Dublin’. The text is in German with one coded remark, written in pen using blue and blue/black inks and pencil.
