TS 222 is a typescript consisting of cuttings of various sizes which were originally clipped together in bundles: there are rust stains in on some of the leaves indicating this. There are annotations in black pen and and pencil by Wittgenstein. The text is in German and typed on the recto of the leaves only.

Many of the leaves bear original foliation by Wittgenstein, both in type or in pen. Subsequently, they have been annotated as follows: I 1-22, IIa 1-28, IIb 1, IIc 1-16, Iid 1-3, Ice 1-6, IIf 1-5, IIIa 1-9, IIIb 1-12, IIIc 1-4, IVa 1-3, IVb 1-3, Ivc 1-5, IVd 1-2, Va 1-7, Vb 1-3, Via 1-11, VIb 1-2.
