MS 123 is a hardback exercise book measuring 197 x 162 mm. Wittgenstein has included dates between 25 September 1940 and 6 June 1941 in the text. The binding consists of navy blue fabric over card boards with a leather spine bearing a label that reads ‘Sheet 4 40’. Internally, there are 68 leaves measuring 197 x 161 mm, ruled with 20 lines per page including both pastedowns and foliated ff. 1-69 including the rear pastedown. Pages 22, 23 and 29 are dog-eared. The text is in German with some coded remarks, written using a pen with blue/black ink.
