MS 147 is a softback notebook measuring 280 x 226 mm. Wittgenstein has included the date 1 February 1934 in the text. The binding consists of brown card covers with a dark brown fabric spine. There is a small label on the front cover affixed by the literary executors and ‘C3’ and a note by the executors written in pencil in the top right-hand corner. Internally, there are 48 leaves measuring 280 x 219 mm, each ruled with 29 lines and foliated ff. 1-48, though not by Wittgenstein. The text is in German and English and written in pencil and pen using black ink.

This volume was passed by Rush Rhees to Trinity College Library on 25 Sep 1970.
