MS 157b is a softback pocket notebook measuring 166 x 102 mm. Wittgenstein has included the date 27 February 1937 in the text. The binding consists of black fabric over card which was originally stapled but subsequently sewn. There is a label on the front cover added by the literary executors. Internally there are forty leaves measuring 165 x 99 mm, each ruled with 20 lines, foliated ff. 1-41 including the rear pastedown. The text is in German and written in pencil and pen using black ink.

This volume was passed by Rush Rhees to Trinity College Library on 25 Sep 1970.
