MS 162a is a hardback pocket notebook measuring 158 x 98 mm. Wittgenstein has included dates between 6 and 12 January 1939 in the text. The binding consists of black fabric on card with a red buckram spine. The front cover has ‘Memo’ embossed in gold. Internally there are 52 leaves measuring 158 x 96 mm, each ruled with 20 lines and paginated pp. 1-103, beginning on the recto of the second leaf, probably by Wittgenstein. The text is in German and written using pencil and blue/black ink.

This volume was passed by Rush Rhees to Trinity College Library on 25 Sep 1970.
