MS 167 is a pocket notebook measuring 159 x 99 mm. The binding consists of dark blue fabric over card with a green fabric spine. The front cover has a large label affixed, bearing a note by the literary executors and the reference ‘Sheet 4, 54’. Internally, there are 31 leaves measuring 160 x 98 mm, each ruled with 19 lines in blue/green ink. The volume is foliated ff. 1-31 in a hand other than Wittgenstein’s. The text is in German and is written in pencil and pen using blue ink.

This volume suffered some liquid damage during conservation in 1977. As a result, the text on some of the pages is difficult to read.
