MS 169 is a pocket notebook measuring 162 x 105 mm. The binding consists of brown fabric on board with a black fabric spine. Part of a label affixed to the front cover by the literary executors remains, bearing the reference ‘Sheet 4, 56’. On the rear pastedown there is a bookseller’s label reading ‘Eason and Son, Ltd. 40-41 O’Connell Street, Dublin.’ Internally, there are flyleaves at the front and rear and 78 leaves measuring 161 x 100 mm, each ruled with 20 lines. The volume is foliated ff. 1-81 including the front and rear flyleaves and the rear pastedown in a hand other than Wittgenstein’s. The text is in German and written in pencil and pen using blue/black and blue inks.
