Imagine a
language in which toothache is
called “moaning” & the difference between just
moaning & moaning with pain is expressed by the moaning or
dry tone in which the word is pronounced.
People would not say in this
language that it
became clear later on that
A
didn't really have pain, but they would perhaps in an angry tone
say that at first he moaned & then he suddenly laughed.
