picture & say: “I'm sure that this was what I saw”. (Of course the “I'm sure” is really superfluous.) But further: I have painted, portraied my impression – but have I portraid, projected it correctly? All justifications you might try to give are idle wheels they dont drive anything. – Now this is why the expression “immediate awareness” or “knowledge” are ˇin this sort of case misleading

  The prop is not unquestionable because it rests so securely on something but there is no question of its resting on anything.
  To say that we are certain that we have this impression is like saying the earth rests is held rests on an infinitely firm something that is firm in itself.
